President, MW
Consulting, Inc.
Steven Webster is a highly regarded marketing communications professional with extensive experience in emerging technologies, journalism and association management.
A graduate of Northwestern University, he is co-founder of one of the original online companies, Worldscan, Ltd., and co-founder of MW Consulting.
In 2002, he was appointed Executive Director of Florida Marine Contractors Association, the professional trade association for the marine construction industry, where he effectively advocated for reduced insurance rates, statewide licensing, regulatory reforms, incentives-based permitting initiatives, and innovative financial programs. Today, MW Consulting offers these services to the marine construction industry in partnership with Citizens For Florida's Waterways, the state's oldest and largest boating advocacy association.
In 2008, he launched the ‘Green Marine Summit’, a unique program designed to establish LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental & Design) standards for marine products, consulting, management, and construction.
In 2007, he created a unique series of permitting workshops for Florida's Department of Environmental Protection to help regulators and applicants avoid conflicts in the construction permitting process. The program has been extremely successful: Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) have significantly declined; permits are issued more rapidly, resulting in substantial cost savings and speedier project completion.
He previously served as Executive Creative Director for Ogilvy & Mather / Chicago, where he directed the company’s public relations Retail Group, introducing concepts such as integrated marketing, Point-of-Sales (POS) rewards programs, and event marketing for clients that included Sears, Waste Management, American Express, Western Publishing and many others.
He is a frequent speaker at marine and renewable industry functions and is widely published.
He is Chair of Florida Biofuels Association's Leadership Advisory Board, is a member of the US Green Building Council and Associated Industries of Florida, and serves on numerous Federal, Florida and county committees and councils. He is past president of Citizens For Florida's Waterways.
